Parkinson’s Big and Loud Program

Living with Parkinson’s disease presents challenges that affect your ability to continue your daily activities. Many people with Parkinson’s disease benefit a unique form of therapy called Big and Loud therapy. This Parkinson’s treatment program uses experts in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology to help you manage common complications of Parkinson’s disease.

Expert care for Parkinson’s Disease, close to home

Each therapist in the program is Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) Big® or LSVT Loud® certified. This certification means that our team receives extra training to provide these invaluable therapies to people of all ages who live with Parkinson’s disease. Both portions of the program are offered on-site, making it much more convenient for you to get the expert care you need.

Big results from the LVST Big® Program

The LVST Big® portion of your therapy begins with a thorough assessment of your functional capabilities. We find out which specific tasks you have the most trouble with, then create a plan to help maximize your abilities.

Our certified physical and occupational therapists use exercises, stretching, and other techniques to enhance your mobility, balance, coordination, and fine motor skills. We pay particular attention to your arms, legs, and trunk, maximizing everyday movements you use in your activities of daily living.

For many people, Parkinson’s disease affects the quality and volume of their voice. The LVST Loud® portion of our Parkinson’s treatment program helps you develop vocal tone and volume to make yourself clearly understood.

Speech-language pathologists work with you to strengthen the muscles of the larynx, or voice box. Strengthening these muscles helps enhance the ease of speech, improving intonation, pitch, and volume. While this portion of the program is a big commitment, it’s also one of the most life-changing therapies available for people living with Parkinson’s disease.
