Allegheny Health Network’s Allegheny Valley, Forbes, Grove City and Wexford Hospitals Lauded by Leapfrog Group for Caregiving Quality, Safety

PITTSBURGH – Four Allegheny Health Network (AHN) hospitals – Allegheny Valley, Forbes, Grove City and Wexford hospitals – have earned ‘A’ grades in The Leapfrog Group's spring 2024 Hospital Safety Grades report.

The Leapfrog safety report evaluates how hospitals and other health care organizations protect their patients from medical errors, injuries, accidents, and infections. Hospital Safety Grades are assigned twice annually to nearly 3,000 general acute-care hospitals in the U.S.

According to Leapfrog, the hospital grading system is based on national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, and information from supplemental data sources. Together, these metrics produce a single letter grade representing a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors.

Located north of Pittsburgh in Pine Twp., AHN Wexford Hospital opened to patients in September 2021. This is the first grading period that AHN’s newest, full-service hospital was eligible to receive a grade from Leapfrog. AHN Wexford also received an award from Press Ganey earlier this year for top performance in patient experience.
