AHN, Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh to Host ‘Humane Health Coalition’ Mobile Clinic Today

PITTSBURGH – The M.O.V.E.S (Medical – Outreach – Veterinary – Essential – Support) mobile unit from Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh (HARP) will make its next outing today in Braddock, Pa. as part of a program, offered in partnership with Allegheny Health Network (AHN), known as the ‘Humane Health Coalition’ (HHC).

Today’s clinic will be hosted at ‘The Hollander,’ reaching pets and their owners from the Braddock area and beyond. Participants have registered in advance to attend.

From the M.O.V.E.S, HARP caregivers will provide low-to-no-cost veterinary care including exams, vaccines and more, while AHN caregivers will engage pet owners to have discussions about their health and social needs. AHN has progressively expanded onsite services since the launch of this initiative last fall to include testing for HIV/Hep-C, vision exams, distribution of food/hygiene products/clothing, linkage to housing services, Veteran Affairs representation, and more.

The HHC is a first-of-its-kind program which seeks to keep healthy pets and people together. The mobile clinics are primarily intended for underserved individuals who face financial hardship and other social challenges, such as housing instability and limited access to care. The AHN/HARP team have hosted more than a dozen mobile clinics thus far, reaching hundreds of dogs, cats and their owners.

HARP and AHN are grateful to For Good PGH for their generous support of this event.
