Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Application Information

Thank you for your interest in our Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship at Allegheny Health Network!

The PCCM Fellowship Program at Allegheny General Hospital participates in the Medical Specialties Matching Program (MSMP).  All applicants to the program should complete the application process through the  Electronic Residency Application Service® (ERAS®) and register to participate in the Match through NRMP (NRMP program code 1648156F0 – Pulmonary/Critical Care).

All potential applicants must have completed a three-year internal medicine residency in an accredited United States or Canadian residency program.

All completed applications are downloaded and reviewed by the Program Director. Those wishing to apply to the Infectious Disease/Nephrology Critical Care Track please apply through ERAS AGH Infectious Disease or Nephrology programs.

  4. USMLE certified transcript – Steps 1,2,3
  5. NBOME COMLEX transcript – Level 1,2,3
  6. Three letters of recommendation (one from your Internal Medicine Residency Program Director).
  7. Visa Requirements: The program accepts applicants with J-1 visa and Permanent Resident (Green Card) status. Allegheny General Hospital does not sponsor applicants with H1B visa status.
  8. ECFMG Certificate (if applicable)
  9. Green card status (if applicable)

Selection

The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine selects from among eligible applicants based on their preparedness, ability, aptitude, academic credentials, communication skills, and personal attributes such as motivation and integrity. Selection of candidates for positions is based on the following criteria:

  • Current curriculum vitae
  • Completed application form.
  • Appropriate academic performance in undergraduate/graduate medical education
  • Letters of recommendation: 3 letters of recommendation including a letter from your Program Director.
  • Demonstrated scholarly activity - completed abstracts, publications in peer-reviewed journals, and presentations at local/regional/national conferences.
  • Personal interview with the program director, faculty members, and fellows.

Interviews

Each application will be reviewed, and candidates selected for an interview will be notified and scheduled via Thalamus.

Interviews will take place in September and October.  During the interview, applicants will have the opportunity to meet with program leadership and fellows. Additional information will be sent to those scheduled for an interview.

Application timeline

  • July 1: MyERAS website opens to applicants
  • July 15: ERAS post office opens for programs to receive applications
  • July 30: Deadline to apply to the program
  • August: Applications are reviewed, and invitations are sent to selected applicants
  • September - October: Interviews are conducted
  • November: Rank Order list closes
  • December: Match Day
  • July 1: New fellows begin
