About the program

Our one-year multidisciplinary pain medicine fellowship program fully prepares trainees for board certification in pain medicine. As a fully accredited ACGME fellowship, our program stresses the role of pain management specialists as consultants and the need to establish the skills necessary to communicate effectively with referring physicians as well as with patients.

The program includes training at designated sites including West Penn Hospital, Allegheny General Hospital, and UPMC-Mercy Hospital. The following sub-specialty experiences are incorporated into the training curriculum to create appropriate fellow growth and development in a multidisciplinary, interactive curriculum:

  • Anesthesiology
  • Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
  • Psychiatry
  • Neurology
  • Headache Medicine
  • Neurosurgery
