Why choose the Wexford Health + Wellness Pavilion Diagnostic Imaging Center?

We offer many advanced diagnostic imaging services in one centralized location, including:

X-ray

This common diagnostic test uses low doses of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of bones and other internal structures. If necessary, your physician may recommend an X-ray using a contrast dye or other material to highlight specific organs or tissues.

Bone density (DEXA) scan

A type of X-ray, DEXA scans measure bone density within the body. This noninvasive procedure helps diagnose conditions such as osteoporosis, which causes loss of bone tissue.

CT (computed tomography)

Physicians use CT scans to generate 3D images of internal body structures, including organs, bones, and blood vessels. This painless, noninvasive test uses low-energy X-rays to allow your physician to see problems such as internal injuries, tumors, or bleeding.

Mammography

Physicians recommend mammograms for women over age 50 at least every two years as a screening test for breast cancer. Mammograms use low-dose X-rays to detect cancerous tissues inside the breast. If your mammogram shows suspicious tissue, your physician may recommend a stereotactic breast biopsy to confirm a diagnosis.

MRI (magnetic resonance imaging)

MRI machines use radio waves and powerful magnetic fields to create images of bones, organs, and other internal structures. MRI scans are highly detailed and sometimes offer better diagnostic information compared with other imaging studies.

In addition to standard MRI, we offer wide-bore MRI, which features a wider opening for more space around your body. This type of machine provides more room and comfort for patients.

Nuclear medicine

Nuclear medicine diagnostic imaging tests use small amounts of radioactive material to generate pictures of internal structures. Many procedures fall under the nuclear medicine umbrella, such as PET (positron emission tomography). Physicians often use these tests to diagnose conditions such as heart disease, cancer, and neurological disorders.

Ultrasound

This simple, painless, noninvasive imaging test uses sound waves to create pictures of internal organs and tissues. Compared with X-rays, ultrasound provides better images of soft tissues and can help diagnose infections, swelling, or unexplained pain.
