AHN Canonsburg Ambulance Designated as EMS Provider for Donegal Township
Canonsburg, Pa. – Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Prehospital Care announced today that AHN Canonsburg Ambulance is now serving as the emergency medical services (EMS) provider for Donegal Township. AHN Canonsburg Ambulance has proudly served the Washington County community for more than 25 years, and currently serves as the EMS provider in Canonsburg, Houston Borough and Chartiers Township.
AHN Canonsburg Ambulance is staffed 24/7 by AHN paramedics, emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and advanced emergency medical technicians (AEMTs) who are Pennsylvania Department of Health-certified and capable of providing Advanced Life Support (ALS) and advanced emergency medical care. The ambulance service includes a fleet of seven vehicles equipped with the latest technology and equipment.
In addition to providing emergency medical care and stabilization services, the AHN team provides transport to area hospitals for acute conditions such as heart attack, stroke and trauma, as clinically indicated. They also readily respond to requests for assistance from neighboring agencies.
“Canonsburg Ambulance has a long history of serving Washington County,” said Bob Twaddle, Ed.D., EMT-P, vice president, AHN Prehospital Care Services. “We are pleased to expand our service to Donegal Township, ensuring even more residents in the community have access to the highest-quality EMS care.”
AHN Canonsburg Ambulance was the first provider in Washington County to use mechanical CPR devices, advanced video laryngoscopes—specialized equipment for airway management, and power cot stretchers on each of its ambulances—a powered wheeled stretcher intended to support patient care with the touch of a button. The team has received achievement awards for remarkable cardiac care.
The Donegal Township Board of Supervisors stated, “We are pleased to have Allegheny Health Network’s Canonsburg Ambulance provide service to the residents of Donegal Township as we feel it will have a positive impact on the wellbeing of our community. We now have an ambulance staffed by providers who are dedicated to serving our area 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We believe having this resource based within our community will lead to significantly shorter response times, promote better outcomes for those in need of emergent medical care and will contribute to a healthier, happier community. We look forward to a lasting relationship with AHN and to sharing this resource with our surrounding communities.”
AHN Prehospital Care Services encompasses physician-led EMS medical direction, education, quality assurance, business development, medical special operations, emergency medical services, critical care air and ground transport via LifeFlight, and EMS communications centers.
