To be accepted as a resident in the Allegheny Health Network Medical Education Consortium (Consortium) is a privilege that is extended only to professionally competent physicians who continuously meet the qualifications, standards, and requirements set forth in the institutional policies governing the Graduate Medical Education Programs of the Consortium.
The Consortium is a consolidation of the Graduate Medical Education programs of various hospitals that are part of the Allegheny Health Network with approved residency and fellowship training programs.
The Graduate Medical Education Committee is responsible for ensuring that programs select from among eligible applicants on the basis of their preparedness, ability, aptitude, academic credentials, communication skills, and personal qualities such as motivation and integrity. Programs must maintain the hospital’s employment policies which oppose discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, age, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or military status. The AHN Medical Education Consortium will provide the following salaries to its residents and fellows during the 2025-2026 academic year:
After meeting the Consortium’s eligibility requirements and passing through the
program’s selection process, we have a standard Agreement of Appointment that
outlines the responsibilities and requirements for both the Consortium and you
as a resident. This agreement is good for a period of one year, but it is eligible for automatic renewal for each subsequent year of training in the program if you’ve achieved a satisfactory completion of the previous post-graduate year.
